IOQM Age Limit for 2026

IOQM Educational Qualification for 2026

Students currently studying in Class 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 can register and appear for the IOQM 2026 exam. As per the MTAI guidelines, students must provide a school ID and school certificate for age & class verification during the registration process. Also, students must not have passed or be scheduled to appear for Class 12 board exam before October 30, 2026. No student is allowed to forfeit their results to show eligibility. IOQM Citizenship Criteria 2026

As per the MTAI & HBCSE guidelines, in order to be eligible for IOQM 2026, the student must be an Indian citizen, eligible to hold an Indian passport or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). OCI students must travel back to India to write the exam, and they will be considered under the Delhi-NCR region. All the travel fees must be borne by the student. However, according to the Madras High Court order, OCI students are eligible to participate in the training camps like the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) and the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (EGMOTC), provided they check off other eligibility criteria and the tests. But they can not represent India in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). 

INMO Qualified Students: Direct Eligibility

INMO 2025 awardees can directly appear for INMO 2026 without participating in the IOQM or RMO exam, provided they meet the age criteria, educational qualification, and fulfill the IMO 2026 & EGMO 2027 eligibility.

IOQM Selection Criteria: RMO Eligibility

All IOQM students are divided into two categories: Category A (Class 8 to 11) & Category B (Class 12). From every region, the top 200 students from Category A and 40 students from Category B are selected for the next stage, RMO. Everyone who is tied in the 200th & 40th positions will be selected. Additionally, 5 girls are selected from Category A under the girls’ quota. However, there is no girls’ quota under Category B.

IOQM Certificate Criteria

There are two certificates available for participating in the IOQM exam: Regional Certificate & National Certificate. Every student who scores at least 10% is eligible to receive the certificates. The Regional Certificate is awarded to the top 10% of the students who appeared for the IOQM exam in a region, while the National Certificate is awarded to the top 10% nationally.
